Sweet Surrender

A lovely two-part song which I've heard in a number of different settings (and a Google search reveals that it's used by people in a variety of spiritual traditions). I've seen several different attributions of authorship and haven't been able to verify any of them. The only recording I know of (although I imagine there are probably others) is on Victoria McCarthy's CD Flight of the Hawk.

This is also sung with several variations on the lyrics (most frequently "...the luminous love light of the One"). Personally I find the phrase "luminous love light" to be unnecessarily redundant, so I am in favor of re-phrasing!

The Reclaiming folks sing a fiery activist version that goes:
"We are rising up like a phoenix from the fire
Brothers and sisters, spread your wings and fly higher
We are rising up, we are rising up"
(Don't ask me how they manage to squeeze "Brothers and sisters" in there!)

(If the above link doesn't work in your browser, click here to hear the song.)

We are opening up in sweet surrender
to the luminous love light from within
We are opening up in sweet surrender
to the luminous love light from within
We are opening, we are opening
We are opening, we are opening
