Pagan Chants

She Touches Me Deeply

I learned this chant many years ago and have never been able to track down the source. I'd love to hear from anyone who knows its origin. I'm also not aware of any recordings of it. It is a fabulous gospel-y chant with a great energy, and the transcription and MIDI file really don't do it justice. Read the notation liberally (i.e. not literally) - this chant needs to have soul!

The "I am wise..." part is sort of a "B" part to be sung alongside the first one; the descant is one that my friends and I invented to go along with it (the words can vary; for example, you can also sing "I am the Goddess"). There's no reason this can't be a God chant as well. Some friends and I used to sing "He touches me deeply..." We also invented a "B" part to go along with it:
"I am wise in the name of Coyote
Shiva has come to set me free
I am strong in the name of Osiris
I am the God and the God is me."

She touch, she touch, she touches me deeply
deep in the heart of harmony
She touch, she touch, she touches me deeply
I am the Goddess and the Goddess is me

I am wise in the name of Hekate
Inanna has come to set me free
I am strong in the name of Diana
I am the Goddess and the Goddess is me
